In addition to the federal holiday on November 25, SAVE Program Customer Support will be unavailable on Friday, November 26, and will resume normal business operations November 29. The SAVE system will remain available for regular use.

On Aug. 5, 2021, President Biden issued a memo to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas directing him to implement Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) and employment authorization for certain Hong Kong residents through Feb. 5, 2023. Once a covered individual receives a DED EAD with a Category Code of A11, they may present it to show they are authorized to work and that they are eligible for certain benefits.  

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has automatically extended the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) issued under TPS for Syria with a Category Code of A12 or C19 through March 28, 2022. TPS Syria beneficiaries may provide their expiring EAD with a Category code of A-12 or C-19 along with an individual notice issued by USCIS that they received in the mail, which automatically extends their EAD through March 28, 2022. SAVE will be able to verify the continuation of an applicant's TPS using this notice along with their alien or I–94 number. You may need to perform additional verification steps to confirm the applicant's TPS. SAVE is publishing this announcement to supplement its August 2021 announcement regarding Afghan special immigrant (SI) lawful permanent residents (LPRs) and parolees. While some Afghans will continue to be admitted as SI LPRs or provided SI parole, DHS recently started admitting a third category: SI conditional permanent residents (CPRs). In addition, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is allowing certain Afghans to enter the United States in a fourth category: non-SI parolee. 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today published a Federal Register notice extending the validity of Temporary Protected Status (TPS)-related documentation for beneficiaries under the TPS designations for El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua and Sudan. The notice automatically extends through Dec. 31, 2022, the validity of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs); Forms I-797, Notice of Action; and Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Record (collectively known as TPS-related documentation) for beneficiaries under the TPS designations for these six countries. The notice also provides instructions for beneficiaries who wish to request a new EAD with a Dec. 31, 2022, expiration date.

On July 30, 2021, the President announced that the first flight of Operation Allies Refuge had arrived in the United States, carrying Afghans who are eligible for Special Immigrant Visas (SIV), including family members. These individuals and future arrivals that are part of this operation will have a special immigrant Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status or special immigrant parole that meets the special immigrant requirement for certain government benefits.

USCIS is complying with the July 16th order from the U.S. District Court in Texas. The order does not affect DACA for individuals who have an existing DACA grant. SAVE will continue to verify DACA recipients, including the DACA extension that SAVE announced earlier this year.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas designated Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, effective August 3, 2021, through February 3, 2023. Haitian nationals and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti may submit an initial registration application under the TPS designation for Haiti during the 18-month registration period that begins August 3, 2021 and ends on February 3, 2023. TPS applicants may also apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
