SAVE Verification Process
Minimum Requirements for Verification
For SAVE to verify a benefit applicant’s status, the agency must have the applicant’s biographic information (first name, last name and date of birth) and a numeric identifier from a U.S. government issued immigration document (for example, Alien/USCIS Number; Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, number; Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) ID number; or Naturalization/Citizenship number). SAVE cannot verify an applicant’s status using only first and last name.
Electronic Verification
Electronic Access
- SAVE System allows agencies to access immigration information using a secure Web browser.
- Web Services allows agencies to access immigration information using a type of interface designed to support a machine-to-machine connection over a network.
Initial Verification Process
- The user submits an initial request based on the document or information provided by the applicant.
- Within seconds,
- returns the applicant’s status, or
- prompts the user to “Institute Additional Verification.”
Retry Initial Verification Process
If SAVE returns mismatched data fields, the user has the option to correct the information and retry the initial verification request.
Additional Verification Process
- If the user receives this prompt, the user must submit additional information and/or attach a copy of the applicant’s document (front and back) for verification.
- SAVE then:
- returns the applicant’s status, or
- prompts the user to “Resubmit with Doc’s,” which means the user must attach and submit a copy of the applicant’s document (front and back) for verification. SAVE will then return the applicant’s status.
