Interagency Strategy for Promoting Naturalization
Throughout our history, the United States has welcomed immigrants from all over the world who have helped shape and define our country. Granting citizenship to eligible lawful permanent residents is vital to our nation’s security, economic prosperity, and a future built on the principles of the U.S. Constitution.
In keeping with Executive Order on Restoring Faith in Our Legal Immigration Systems and Strengthening Integration and Inclusion Efforts for New Americans (E.O. 14012), USCIS is chairing a Naturalization Working Group that includes the:
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security;
- U.S. Department of Agriculture;
- U.S. Department of Defense;
- U.S. Department of Education;
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services;
- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
- U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service
- U.S. Department of Justice;
- U.S. Department of Labor;
- U.S. Department of State;
- U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs;
- U.S. Small Business Administration;
- U.S. Social Security Administration;
- The Institute of Museum and Library Services;
- The National Endowment for the Arts;
- The National Endowment for the Humanities.

USCIS has taken a number of steps to reduce barriers to naturalization in our nation's legal immigration system.
