Organizational Accounts Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What new account enhancements will be available for the fiscal year (FY) 2025 H-1B electronic registration and online filing processes?
A. On Jan. 12, 2024, USCIS announced the following upcoming enhancements for the FY 2025 H-1B cap seasons:
Organizational accounts that will allow multiple individuals within an organization, such as a company or other business entity, and their legal representatives to collaborate on H-1B registrations, Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, and associated Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service.
Online filing of Form I-129 H-1B petitions, as well as online filing of Form I-907 premium processing requests for a Form I-129 H-1B petition.
The ability for legal representatives to invite paralegals to help prepare H-1B registrations and petition drafts.
New and improved design, efficient process flows, and case management features for account holders.
Transitioning the paper filing location for Form I-129 H-1B petitions and associated Form I-907 requests for premium processing from the USCIS service centers to the USCIS lockbox.
USCIS conducted usability testing on the organizational account with individuals who serve a variety of roles in the H-1B registration and petition filing processes, including employers, human resources personnel, attorneys, and paralegals. The goal of these sessions was to gather feedback that would make the new account experience easier to understand and use. The feedback received resulted in enhancements to content and improvements in interactions and functionality throughout the organizational account. USCIS will continue to seek feedback from users of the organizational account and release enhancements to the experience in the future.
Q. When will these new organizational accounts be available for use?
A. Organizations will have access to these new features in February 2024. USCIS will announce the availability of the organizational accounts and H-1B registration dates at the end of January.
Q. How can I prepare for the changes now?
A. As an organization, you should decide early who will establish your company group and invite others to join. This should be someone with the authority to sign, pay, and submit on behalf of the company. You should also decide if you want one group or multiple groups. If your organization needs to create multiple groups, we recommend you coordinate offline to establish and manage the groups and the associated online accounts.
USCIS will host two national engagements on organizational accounts in January as well as several smaller “Tech Talk” sessions leading up to the FY 2025 H-1B registration period to help guide organizations through the process. During these sessions, individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions about the organizational accounts in preparation for the registration period and the launch of online filing of Form I-129 H-1B petitions. USCIS encourages all individuals involved in the H-1B registration and petition filing process to attend these engagements. Invitations to these engagements will be sent later in January. Additional information about the engagements, including how to access them, is available on the USCIS Upcoming National Engagement page.
Q. I already have a registrant account from previous seasons. Do I need to make any changes to access the organizational accounts feature?
A. Yes, if you are designated by your organization to set up a company group, you will need to upgrade your account by logging in and following the on-screen instructions. After upgrading your account, you will be able to send invitations with instructions to others to join your group. USCIS will be hosting “Tech Talks” leading up to the registration period to guide you through this process. More information, including how to access the talks, is on the USCIS Upcoming National Engagement page.
If you will serve the group in another role (such as a member), you should wait for an invitation to join your organization’s group. There will be instructions in that invitation about how to upgrade your account.
Q. How can I learn more about these new changes?
A. USCIS will be hosting national engagements starting in January 2024. Visit our Contact Public Engagement page to subscribe to notifications about upcoming engagements.
Q. If I file Form I-129 and Form I-907 by paper, can I link them to my account?
A. At this time, paper filed Forms I-129 and I-907 cannot be linked to the organizational account. This capability is planned for future releases and will be announced at a later time. USCIS will transition the filing location for paper filed Form I-129 H-1B petitions and Forms I-907 from service centers to the USCIS lockbox as part of our efforts to increase efficiency by standardizing processes and reducing costs.
