Venezuela Redesignated for TPS and Venezuela's TPS Extended; Certain TPS EADs Automatically Extended Through March 10, 2025
On Sept. 20, 2023, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas redesignated Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from Oct. 3, 2023, through April 2, 2025. Venezuelan nationals and individuals with no nationality who last habitually resided in Venezuela may submit an initial registration application under this 2023 redesignation of Venezuela for TPS and apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). These individuals will receive an EAD with a Card Expires date of April 2, 2025.
In the same notice, Secretary Mayorkas also extended Venezuela's 2021 TPS designation from March 11, 2024, through Sept. 10, 2025, for existing beneficiaries. Given the time frames for processing TPS re-registration applications, USCIS has automatically extended through March 10, 2025, the validity of certain EADs issued under this TPS designation for Venezuela. After these TPS beneficiaries reregister and request an EAD, if eligible, they will be granted an extension of TPS and receive an EAD with a Card Expires date of Sept. 10, 2025.
