DHS today announced a Federal Register notice extending the validity of TPS-related documentation for beneficiaries under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua and Sudan through Jan.
Employment authorization documents (EADs) with a category code of “A-12” or “C-19” and a Card Expires date as indicated in the chart below, remain valid through Jan. 2, 2020.

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan announced that the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Syria has been extended for 18 months, through March 31, 2021. Current beneficiaries who want to maintain their status must re-register September 23, 2019 through November 22, 2019.
Given the timeframes for processing TPS re-registration applications, USCIS has automatically extended the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) issued under the TPS designation of Syria through March 28, 2020.

Until further notice, employers should continue using the Form I-9 currently available on I-9 Central, even after the expiration date of Aug. 31, has passed.
