E-Verify Celebrates its 25th Anniversary!
September marked E-Verify’s 25th anniversary! On September 30, 1996, the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) was signed into law, creating three employment eligibility verification pilot programs, including the “Basic Pilot.” A year later, the Basic Pilot was rolled out in six states, and in 2007, the Basic Pilot was renamed “E-Verify”.
Since 1996, E-Verify has been helping employers confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. E-Verify is fast, free and easy to use – and it’s the best way employers can ensure a legal workforce. Employers continue to choose to use E-Verify; in fact, just a few weeks ago, E-Verify surpassed one million enrolled employers!
E-Verify is also one of the federal government’s highest-rated services for customer satisfaction. In 2020, E-Verify achieved a score of 89 on the American Customer Satisfaction Index, far exceeding the government and industry averages and is a testament to the stellar customer service provided by E-Verify.
