USCIS Launches New Resources in Spanish

USCIS is strengthening its commitment to the Spanish-speaking community.  We have launched USCIS Facebook in Spanish and the new home of our Spanish blog, USCIS Compás, which has moved from our English blog to its own place in USCIS español. Both resources will contain new, original content exclusively in Spanish.

USCIS to Naturalize more than 6,000 Citizenship Candidates

WASHINGTON — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will commemorate the 81st birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by welcoming more than 6,000 new citizens at citizenship ceremonies throughout the United States and overseas for the week of Jan.15 through 22. Special ceremonies will embrace the theme, “Enriching the American Dream: The Celebration of a Legacy.“
USCIS' Houston Offices Status

September 17, 2008 - The Houston Asylum office is open with limited staff.  The Application Support Centers (ASCs) NW and SW Sites will be open September 18.  All other Houston offices remain closed until further notice.
New Mailing Address for Adoption Forms I-600 and I-800

On October 6, 2009,  USCIS announced a new mailing address for prospective adoptive parents to submit Form I‑600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative, and form I‑600A, Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition.  While the change takes affect on October 6, 2009, applicants have a 30-day transition period before USCIS will return incorrectly filed petitions.

The efforts of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) led to the indictment charging Jacksonville residents Mark Laurence Barlaan, Winnie Rabaya Barlaan, Mary Helen Amaba Barlaan, and Peter Laforteza Barlaan with marriage fraud, immigration document fraud, lying to a federal agency, and conspiracy to commit those crimes.
