Media Advisory: USCIS to Celebrate the Citizenship of Two Children during an Independence Day Celebration at the Liberty Bell Center

Delaware brother and sister originating from Philippines will join in annual tapping of the bell.

PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will celebrate the citizenship of two Delaware children during a special ceremony at the Liberty Bell Center.  USCIS Philadelphia Field Office representative will administer a special Oath of Allegiance and present the children with certificates of citizenship recognizing and celebrating their citizenship, which is generally derived through their naturalized parents or adoption.

Following the presentation of certificates of citizenship, the two young Americans will join eight Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence (DSDI) at the annual tapping of the Liberty Bell. DSDI is made up of people who have traced their ancestry to one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence.

The children, a brother (age 13) and sister (age 12) from Dover, Delaware, originate from the Philippines. 

This celebration of citizenship ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual Independence Day celebration. This year, USCIS celebrates our nation’s 239^th birthday by welcoming more than 4,000 new U.S. citizens in more than 50 naturalization ceremonies across the country from July 1 through July 4.
