Tammy Meckley, Associate Director, Immigration Records and Identity Services Directorate

Tammy Meckley began her role as the associate director of the Immigration Records and Identity Services Directorate (IRIS) directorate in February 2015.

Experience and Achievements

In this role, she manages the E-Verify and SAVE programs, oversees the largest FOIA program in the federal government, and leads USCIS’ eProcessing initiative, which connects previously separate technology systems within the agency to improve decision timeliness, increase transparency during the application process, and accelerate the availability of online filing for all immigration benefits. One of Meckley’s many accomplishments at USCIS includes implementing the SAVE Paperless Initiative, which eliminated 171,000 paper Form G-845 verification requests.

From 2007 to 2010, Meckley worked at Immigration and Customs Enforcement as the assistant director of the Office of Professional Responsibility; as the acting assistant director of Detention and Removal Operations, Mission Support; and as chief of staff for Management.

In 2006 and 2007, Meckley served as the assistant vice president and assistant chief privacy officer for ChoicePoint, a company that provided data and data solutions to its customers. From March 2003 to May 2005, she worked as the deputy assistant administrator of Transportation Security Policy within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). During that time, she also served as a special assistant to the deputy administrator and chief of staff of TSA.

From February 1996 to August 2004, Meckley served in various positions with the U.S. Department of Justice, including the Office of the United States Trustee, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, and the Executive Office for United States Attorneys.

Education

Meckley graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and hails from Punxsutawney, PA.
