USCIS Texas Service Center: Academic Community Engagement
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Texas Service Center (TSC) invited interested individuals, including members of the academic community, to participate in a day-long stakeholder engagement on Thursday, February 21, 2013.
This engagement provided an opportunity for stakeholders to meet with USCIS officials to discuss student and academic-related immigration issues. Representatives from NAFSA: Association of International Educators, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (ICE SEVP), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), along with various designated school officials (DSOs) were present to share information and answer questions. Topics for discussion included I-140 petitions and I-765 and I-485 applications, trends in higher education, and technology issues such as e-filing and SEVIS/CLAIMS interfaces. Following the engagement, USCIS will offer tours of the Texas Service Center.
