USCIS Office in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Closed on June 20

USCIS closed its field office in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on Thursday, June 20, 2013. The USCIS Field Office in San Salvador, El Salvador, will assume Tegucigalpa’s former jurisdiction (Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua), and the U.S Department of State (DOS) Embassy in Tegucigalpa will assume responsibility for certain requests.

Beginning on June 21, individuals who reside in Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua must follow these instructions:

 

Form/Service

Filing Instructions

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative

Mail your petition to the USCIS Chicago Lockbox.

 

USCIS may authorize you to file with a U.S. embassy in some limited circumstances.

Form I-407, Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status

Contact the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in the country where you reside.

 

Intercountry Adoptions

Follow the Form I-600A/I-600 filing instructions on the USCIS website for filings related to adoptions from Honduras and Nicaragua. The filing location depends on your residence and filing circumstances.

Follow the Form I-800A/I-800 filing instructions for filings related to Hague Convention adoptions from Costa Rica.

Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition

Mail your petition to the Nebraska or Texas Service Center depending on where you live.

For beneficiary interviews/processing, contact the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in the country where the beneficiary resides.

Application for Transportation/Boarding Letter (for Lawful Permanent Residents who need proof of status)

Lawful Permanent Residents in Honduras: request in person at the U.S. Embassy Consular Section, DHS Window #17, Mondays at 9 a.m.

All others: contact the U.S. Embassy Consular Section with jurisdiction over the location where you are traveling.

DNA Testing

Customers in Honduras: contact the U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa, Consular Section. You may contact the Consulate via email at: tggdna@state.gov.

Customers in Costa Rica: contact the U.S. Embassy San Jose, Consular Section.

Customers in Nicaragua: contact the U.S. Embassy Managua, Consular Section.
