National Consumer Protection Week 2019
USCIS is celebrating National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) from March 3 to 9. During this week, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) helps people understand their consumer rights and encourages consumers to make well-informed financial decisions.
USCIS works closely with federal, state, and local agencies and with community-based organizations to combat immigration scams and the unauthorized practice of immigration law.
We urge the public about to avoid immigration scams and to ensure the person helping them is authorized to give legal advice. We appreciate everyone who helps us inform the public about how to avoid immigration scams, report fraud, and find authorized legal services.
You can report immigration scams by contacting the FTC. Please visit the USCIS Avoid Scams Initiative website to learn more about avoiding immigration scams and reporting fraud.
