Media Advisory: USCIS to Celebrate the Citizenship of 13 Children during an Independence Day Celebration at the Betsy Ross House

Citizenship candidates to take Oath at public libraries and historic landmarks

PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will celebrate the citizenship of 13 children during a special ceremony at the Betsy Ross House on Saturday, July 4^th at 1:30 p.m.  The ceremony is part of the Betsy Ross House annual Independence Day celebration. 

USCIS Philadelphia will administer a special Oath of Allegiance and present the 13 children with certificates of citizenship recognizing and celebrating their citizenship, which is generally derived through their naturalized parents or adoption.

The children, ranging in ages 9 to 13, originate from the following 11 countries: Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Egypt (3), Jordan (2), Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, South Korea, and Vietnam. 

This ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual Independence Day celebration. This year, USCIS celebrates our nation’s 239^th birthday by welcoming more than 4,000 new U.S. citizens in more than 50 naturalization ceremonies across the country from July 1through July 4.
