Forms I-130 Process Changes for Petitioners Residing Overseas
On August 10, 2011, the USCIS International Operations Division, Office of Policy & Strategy, and Office of Public Engagement invited stakeholders to participate in a teleconference to discuss process changes to the Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative filed by petitioners residing overseas.
Effective August 15, 2011, petitioners residing in countries without USCIS offices generally will be required to file Form I-130 with the USCIS Chicago Lockbox. Petitioners residing in a country with a USCIS office have the option of sending their I-130 forms to the Chicago Lockbox or continue to file their Forms I-130 at the international USCIS office having jurisdiction over the area where they live.
