Follow Up Engagement - Designation of Syria for Temporary Protected Status
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducted a teleconference regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Syria on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (Eastern).
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano designated Syria for TPS on March 29, 2012 for eighteen months. Eligible Syrian nationals, and persons without nationality who last habitually resided in Syria, who wish to obtain TPS must apply during the 180-day registration period that began March 29, 2012 and ends on September 25, 2012.
During this engagement USCIS provided background information on TPS and explain edwho is eligible for this benefit. USCIS subject matter experts were available to answer stakeholder questions and addressed additional questions received since our prior TPS Syria engagement on March 29, 2012.
