Academic Community Engagement
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) California Service Center (CSC) invited interested individuals, including members of the academic community, to participate in a day-long stakeholder engagement on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
This engagement provided an opportunity for stakeholders to meet with USCIS officials to discuss student and academic immigration issues. In addition, representatives from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (ICE SEVP) and from NAFSA: Association of International Educators, as well as various designated school officials (DSOs) from a number of colleges and universities, were also present to share information and answer questions. Topics for discussion included I-129 petitions and I-765 and I-539 applications, trends in higher education, and technology issues such as e-filing and SEVIS/CLAIMS interfaces. Following the engagement, USCIS offered tours of the California Service Center.
